Print Process

Image Transfer Prints
Image transfer is a photographic process using peel-apart film (originally Polaroid, now Fuji). A 35mm slide or a negative is exposed onto the film. Before complete development, the film is separated from the receptor paper and the dye-laden negative is laid onto another surface such as watercolor paper. The dyes develop onto the surface and the image is “transferred”. Each print of the same photograph is unique due to the physical properties of the transfer process. If a larger image is desired, the original print is scanned, enlarged, and printed onto the preferred medium. We print onto watercolor paper.

Photographs
The original photo (35mm slide) is scanned and then professionally printed in the desired size onto watercolor paper.

Professional Printing
Both our photographs and image transfer prints are professionally printed on acid-free watercolor paper using pigmented ink technology which creates an archival print suitable for museum or gallery display. Due to the archival-grade pigment inks and the acid-free paper, these Giclée prints offer image stability ratings from 80-150 years.
