As a young girl, I remember wondering about God, and I especially wanted to know about Jesus who had lived on this earth. Being raised in a very traditional Catholic family with one brother and two sisters, we learned our prayers, went to Mass, and celebrated holidays and holy days with our grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. In particular, I observed how spirituality was part of my Irish grandmother's everyday life. I watched as she took her rosary beads from the pocket of her dress and twirled the beads between her fingers with her lips silently moving. Often when I'd visit, she'd ask if I'd like to go to church with her for a few minutes to make a visit. Her quiet example instilled in me a sense of respect and wonder of the Divine.
With the stability of my childhood as a foundation and the constant support and love of family and good friends, I’ve been able to venture beyond those parameters. Through the avenues of photography, nature, scripture study, Jungian therapy, dream work, body work, dance, Plant Spirit Medicine, the enneagram, and appreciation for my Spanish Basque, Irish, English heritage, I continue to discover more about myself and the mystery of God. This has all been been assisted by the loving guidance and kindness of masterful teachers including St. Francis of Assisi, Richard Rohr OFM, Deepak Chopra, Tu Bears, Lynne Andrews, Clarissa Pinkola Estes, Donna Hamilton, Geoff Brandenburg, Marion Woodman, Jean Houston, Marshall Thurber, Eliot Cowan, Susan and Julian Lange, Anny Eastwood, Aleya Dao, Dr. Herb Coverdale, and Daniel Frank. I am grateful to each of them and to those I've yet to meet.
My quest to understand who I am, my relationship with God, and my purpose and place in this world always brings me to the one thing I know for certain and that is---it’s all about LOVE - caring, sharing, appreciating.
Today as a proud mother of two grown sons, Christian and Matthew, and the delighted grandmother of three-Alison, Eliza, and Walter, I bow in gratitude for the abundant blessings of good health and the love of family and friends.
Photography continues to be my most favored medium of self-expression. Reflecting back to me the love that is always present, photography seems to be the best way for me to capture what touches my heart.
